Our story
Built on 60 years of earthmoving heritage.
Whitfield Excavations was established in Swan Hill in 1993 by Director Dale Whitfield, continuing a family history in the earthmoving industry that spans more than 60 years. Incorporated as Whitfield Excavations Pty Ltd in 2017, the business has grown into a complete civil construction group with a team of over 60 qualified and licensed professionals.
From our depot at 25 Saleyards Road we deliver civil, agricultural, commercial and domestic works across the Swan Hill region, northern Victoria and southern New South Wales, providing exceptional service and expertise through every stage of a project, from planning and design through to completion.
Today the company contributes approximately $4 million back into the local community each year, employing local people and their families, and sourcing suppliers and subcontractors locally wherever possible.

Whitfield Excavations
The core of the group: civil construction, earthworks, roads, kerb & channel, drainage, site preparation, plant hire and quarry product supply.
SPS Plumbing
Known locally as Suttons Plumbing Service. Commercial, industrial and domestic plumbing, HDPE and specialist pipework, roofing, drainage and hot water.
Drill Direct
Horizontal directional drilling, underground boring, certified service location, acoustic leak detection and vacuum excavation.
EnviroX Solutions
Management of regional landfills, concrete recycling and sustainable waste solutions that reduce our footprint and our clients'.

Our team is highly trained and continuously upskilled through industry-recognised courses, equipment certifications and proactive safety training. By recruiting locally, we ensure a strong, reliable workforce that understands the community and every project's needs.
Our employees are locals who can converse with clients with an intricate knowledge of local conditions, standards and locations. Staff hold Certificate III in Civil Construction and adopt a proactive approach to every work environment, and our training matrix is available to clients throughout a contract for full transparency.
